Government Dmitry Medvedev (Prime Minister) Deputy to President, chief administrator Vladimir Putin (President) Head of the State and the government • Has a federation, characterized by a union of partly self-governing states under a central government • Can vote at age 18 • President has more power than Prime Minister • Russian = main language

  5. Citizens Opinions • Citizens don’t care • Many are dissatisfied • Not trying to come up with solutions

  7. Oil industry • oil use pollutes the air, not the only thing polluting the air • depend on money from selling oil, demand for oil is decreasing • causing climate change affecting all of the population

  8. Air Pollution • Causing premature/ early deaths • Citizens are encouraged to stay home often • Unhealthy to constantly be breathing in

  9. Natural Resource Depletion • Population decreasing of animals such as polar bears, who are already endangered • Affects human health and habitat, ice thawing from oil, floods land • They are not thinking of this as a “major problem”

  11. Reduce Oil Production • Other countries are not buying, alternative ways • Not as many buyers = not as much needed • Oil industry is always fluctuating

  12. Wind Farm • planning to build its first largest wind farm • $200 million is needed • will create 200 billion kilowatt-hours of energy per year

  13. Reducing Car Use • Limits on car use would help the air • Fewer cars = less gas, fewer cars = less pollution
