  2. http://www.apples4theteacher.com/esl-games/spanish/family/ When Esperanza reaches California, she meets Alfonso’s brother and his family (Juan-his brother, Josefina-the mom, Isabel- the daughter, and Pepe and Lupe- the twins).

  3. Esperanza now lives in a servants cabin with to other family’s, she has to learn how to do chores, and the adults go work in the fields (and sheds).

  4. She becomes good friends with Isabel, and then when Isabel goes to school, Esperazna has to take care of the babies alone.

  5. While Esperanza is alone, a wind storm occurs and the trucks that pick the adults up cant go to get them.

  6. Because of the wind storm, Mama gets sick with valley fever.
