Project Objectives • This Integration Strategy will serve as the ITS chapter in the 2002 Regional Transportation Plan. • The Integration Strategy developed shall follow the requirements described in the US DOT NPRM for Statewide Transportation Planning; Metropolitan Transportation Planning Proposed Rule May 25,2000.

  3. History of NPRMs and what became Rule 940 • Initial Concept proposed by USDOT was to have an Integration Strategy and a Regional ITS Architecture. • Integration Strategy Rule has been put on indefinite hold. • Regional ITS Architecture described in USDOT FHWA Rule 940 (and identical FTA Policy).

  4. Elements of a USDOT Rule 940 Regional ITS Architecture • Description of Region • Identification of Participating Agencies and Stakeholders • Operational Concept, Agency Roles and Responsibilities • Required Agreements and MOUs • System Functional Requirements • System Interface Requirements (to the level of Architecture Flows) • Identification of Standards • Sequencing of Projects and Implementation • Maintenance Plan
