  1. DSPW 0800 Instructor: Mr. Aaron Roston TPW Chapter 15 DEVELOPING A THESIS THROUGH COMPARE AND CONTRAST

  2. Contrast: Develop a thesis that compares two ideas, examines their differences, and concludes that one is better than the other. I. Compare and Contrast

  3. Contrast to make a point. For example: You want to buy a new car (Motivator) Thesis: You will compare two types of new car to discover which one is better for you to buy. You will conclude through this comparison which car is better for you to buy. Compare/Contrast: Application

  4. You will be required to use one of these to develop 3 points of comparison: VENN DIAGRAM CAR A CAR B

  5. There are two ways to organize this paper. The first way is to compare by car, like so: Intro=Thesis CAR A Price MPG Maint. CAR B Price MPG Maint. Conclusion=CAR A is better (for you) Methods of Comparison I

  6. The second approach is to organize the comparison according to your points of comparison, like so: Intro=Thesis Price CAR A CAR B MPG CAR A CAR B Maint. CAR A CAR B Conclusion=CAR B is better (for you) This way is better, because it emphasizes relevance. You must use this method (A – B, A – B) for your paper.
