Northview, an IBO World School 6 th Grade Expectations. Arrival/Departure. Students may not enter the building until 7:45. Please do NOT arrive before this time ! Students are expected to be in class for Channel One by 8:25 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 8:40 a.m.

Arrival/Departure • Students may not enter the building until 7:45. Please do NOT arrive before this time! • Students are expected to be in class for Channel One by 8:25 a.m. • The tardy bell rings at 8:40 a.m. • Students arriving to campus before 8:25 a.m. are required to wait in the cafeteria until informed to go to class.
Classroom Disruptions If a student chooses to interrupt the instructor, or the learning of other students, the consequences are as follows: • Warning/Redirect • Removed from classroom for the remainder of the period. -complete a reflection sheet -complete the assignments provided • ASD ( after school detention) Must be served the following day. • Learning Lab ( In school detention)
Use of Cell Phone/Electronic Devices Students are allowed to have a cell phone/electronic devices provided they are turned off during class time and are hidden from view. Before school, after school, and during your lunch ONLY, students are permitted to use their cell phones/electronic devices provided they do not distract others.
Consequences • 1st Offense – Confiscate and return at end of day • 2nd Offense – Confiscate and return to parent • 3rd Offense- Confiscate, hold in the office until returned to parent • 4th Offense- Administrative Conference Confiscation and parent must pick up item personally from office • The school will assume no responsibility for lost or stolen phones and electronic devices.
Lunch Behavior • Sit at the table indicated by your teacher. • Once seated you may not get up until directed to take your trays up and line up to leave. • Clean up after yourself. • Keep voice levels moderate, no yelling, or loud voices. • Repeat Offenders: Individual Permanent Assigned Seat
Dress Code • Students are expected to follow the Northview Dress Code at all times. Students will be monitored during 1st block for possible infractions. • No shorts, skirts, or dresses higher than 3 inches above the knee or below the fingertips. • No spaghetti straps or tank tops. Must have sleeves. Necklines no lower than 3” below the collarbone, with no visible cleavage (no off shoulder shirts)
Dress Code Specifics Continued: • Hats, hoods up on hooded sweatshirts, headbands, and head coverings allowed OUTSIDE of buildings ONLY unless for religious purposes. • No inappropriate symbols, words, pictures, or articles depicting violence, tobacco, drugs, alcohol, sex, vulgarity, or demeaning to race or gender.
Dress Code Consequences • 1st offense: Students wearing inappropriate clothing will be provided an opportunity to call home for a change of clothing to be brought to school. Student will be given a warning against repeated dress. • 2nd offense: Student will be assigned ISS and will be provided an opportunity to call home for a change of clothing to be brought to school. Parent phone call by teacher
Dress Code Consequences continued… • 3rd offense: Student will be assigned ISS and will be provided an opportunity to call home for a change of clothing to be brought to school. Teacher phone call to parent required. • 4th offense: Student will be assigned ISS and will be provided an opportunity to call home for a change of clothing to be brought to school. Parent/Teacher conference required. Behavior plan devised at this meeting. Principal involved if needed. • *Repeat offenders may receive loss of school privileges and/or 1day OSS
Homework For every course offered, the maximum percent of a student’s final grade for homework will be 20%. For this reason, no late homework will be accepted. Late projects will have 20 points deducted from their maximum score. The project will still have to be completed!
Late Work A student will have six school days to make up the work he/she missed in the event of an excused absence. *It is the student’s sole responsibility to check with each teacher and the class webpage for missed assignments.
Cheating • Cheating will not be tolerated • Cheating (1st Offense) Zero on assignment, parent contact, disciplinary referral • Cheating (2nd Offense) Zero on assignment, parent contact, 1 day suspension • Cheating (3rd Offense) Extended suspension or removal from Northview
Community Service (Summer hours due September 17th) • Community service is a school requirement. By not meeting the required hours you are choosing to be re-assigned to your traditional school for the next school year. • Students will compile their hours on a Community and Service Log that can be downloaded from our website. The logs should be submitted to your homeroom teacher within the quarter that they occur for the student to receive credit. Quarterly due dates are September 17, November 27, February 12, and April 23.
Community Service continued… • In addition to completing the Community and Service Logs, each student will complete one Community and Service Reflection for each activity. We ask that students take the time to provide a thoughtful and thorough reflection of their service and the impact it had on their lives and the lives of others. These reflections should be submitted to your homeroom teacher. Each student should have no less three different service activities. Students are not permitted to complete all of their hours in one service activity
