The Development Phase… • CIV is a free access community indicator project available to all members of the public since 2007 • Indicators available for all 79 municipalities across the southern state of Victoria • Guided by a theoretically informed conceptual framework of community wellbeing • Systems based approach (linkage) across social, economic, environmental, cultural and democratic domains of wellbeing • Numeric, graphical and spatial data for LGAs, including automatic reports and customised reports • Funding and partnership

Capacity Building Activities • Getting the message out there from the beginning • Dedicated role within CIV • Development of short course training and adoption of RBA • The learning lessons of working closely with local governments and understanding context e.g. political and community con • Sharing applied knowledge and providing leadership • Development of the Australian Community Indicators Network

Policy Linkage • Direct relevance to the 4 year cycle of the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Act (2008) • Health status and health determinant data • City of Ballarat case study: data; engagement; prioritise issues & consider solutions; link to whole of organisation planning; and monitoring and evaluation • Integrated planning outcomes for community safety, positive ageing, youth strategy, cultural diversity, early years • Relationship with Department of Health
