Region 7 Compared Statewide • Communications Stengths Opportunities 100% of facilities able to contact Region’s BTC or Medical Director for assistance Out of 23 communications devices, 22 are used at a level similar to statewide Significantly fewer facilities utilize satellite phones as a communication option in their ICC (8% in Region 7 vs. 41% statewide)
Comparison, continued • Additional Strengths More of Region’s ED staff / managers know what MEDDRUN is and how to access it Region has more mutual aid agreements with other hospitals & facilities outside their county & region For a duration of < 72 hours, Region 7 is better prepared across five preparedness areas: food, laundry, fuel for generator, fuel for vehicles, medical supplies) Note, however, Region is less well-prepared for periods > 96 hrs

Concluding Comments • Lots of good work accomplished • Opportunities for further improvements • Each hospital will receive its own 2003-2009 survey results comparison report in the near future • Begin thinking seriously about how to use “HEROS” funding • Defined regional priorities and/or areas where hospital has demonstrated opportunities for improvement represent ideal investments • Anticipate approval of approach at February PB meeting and proposal deadline of March 31.
