ROLEPLAYERS • National Lotteries Board: Regulator of the National Lottery Trustee of the NLDTF Not involved in adjudication process • Gidani Licensed Operator of the National Lottery • Distributing Agencies Industry Experts appointed by Minister DTI to adjudicate applications Determine the focus area for funding • Central Applications Office Division of the NLB that provides administrative support to the Distributing Agencies.
MISSION OF SPORT & REC DISTRIBUTING AGENCY Fund PROJECTS which: • will enable people to become involved in activities which contribute to the development of sport & recreation. • assist disadvantaged communities to become involved in sporting or recreational activities. • provide sporting or recreational facilities which are accessible to communities, including children and the disabled.

MACRO BODIES • Delivery, coordination and presentation of Team SA • Hosting major events • Projects of National nature that will benefit all priority sporting codes
NATIONAL FEDERATIONS • Four year plans for High Performance Programmes • Training of technical officials, coaches and administrators • Hosting major events • National academies
PROVINCIAL & REGIONAL FEDERATIONS • Equipment for their facilities & clubs • Capacity building and training courses • Upgrading of EXISTING facilities with the endorsement of the National federation
PROVINCIAL ACADEMIES OF SPORT • Capacity building • Training courses • Equipment for training and support during camps
MUNICIPALITIES • Upgrading of existing facilities provided it is part of the Integrated Development Plan, supported by a council resolution. There must be written commitment to maintain the facility.
SCHOOLS • Basic sports facilities • Upgrading of existing facilities • Sports kit and equipment
TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS • Upgrading of existing facilities with unhindered access to participants • Sport-specific research in collaboration with National Federations
SPORTS CLUBS • Sport equipment and kit • Basic facilities & upgrading of existing facilities
REQUIRED INFO • FORM 05/1 • Registration as an NGO, Section 21 or non-profit Trust • 2 years’ audited Financial Statements • Constitution • Business Plan and costed Budget • Endorsement from SASCOC, relevant federation or Provincial sports structure

WHO DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR LOTTERY SUPPORT • Unregistered organisations • Business Organisations • Proprietary Limited (Public and Private) • Unregistered community structures such as Burial Societies, Clubs, Associations etc. • For Profit organisations • Consultants
APPLICATION PROCESS • Call for applications. • Applications processed. • Applications presented for adjudication. • Applications presented to Review Committee • Applicants informed of decision and conditions, if any. • Applicants return Grant Agreement and requested information. • Grant approved for payment by Distributing Agency • Grant paid by National Lotteries Board • Applicant submits report on grant received.

NATIONAL FEDERATIONS • Category B Archery, Badminton, Canoeing, Chess, Cycling, Equestrian, Fencing, Figure Skating, Ice Hockey, Judo, Lifesaving, Modern Pentathlon, Rollersport, Sailing, Shooting, SASAPD, Snow Sport, Softball, Surfing, Squash, Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Weightlifting and Wrestling. Maximum grant of R5m per federation
NATIONAL FEDERATIONS • Category C Aero Club, Bridge, Cue Sport, Darts, Deafsport, Korfball, Martial Arts, Motorsport, Orienteering, Powerboat, Powerlifting, SASAII, Sport Anglers, Tenpin Bowling, Tug Of War, Underwater, Waterski, Waveski, Wushu and Indoor Cricket. A maximum of R2m per federation
NATIONAL FEDERATIONS • Category D Aerobics & Fitness, BOCCE, Drum Majorettes, Jukskei, Mastersport, Mind Sport, National Pigeon Racing and Sheep Shearing. A maximum of R870,000.00
