  2. The role of CWDC • Our early ideas for integrated working and workforce reform

  3. CWDC works to improve the livesof children, young people and families by: • ensuring people working with children have the best possible training, qualifications, support and advice; and • helping children’s organisations and services work together so the child is at the centre of services.

  6. What do we mean by Integrated Working? ….. everyone supporting children and young people working together effectively to put the child at the centre, meet their needs and improve their lives. CWDC & DCSF 2007

  7. To recap……. • October 2006 DCSF transferred responsibility for the implementation, not policy from a workforce perspective, of the: • Common Assessment Framework • Lead Professional Role • Information Sharing (not legal aspect) • Multi agency working • Championing Children

  8. Where next………. • Creation of a new department (DCSF) • Children’s Plan • Children’s Workforce Strategy Action Plan • CWDC 2008/09 Business Plan • All vehicles to embed integrated working

Where next 2…………… • Response to listening to; • what you are telling us • what young people are asking for • How we make the move from the current “Islands” of integrated working to a whole system change • Recognising that “change” is fundamentally about people and practice not just common structures and processes

  10. Workforce reform…. • Recognising that Integrated working isn’t “separate” but an integral part of reforming the young people’s workforce • What we need a step change in moving to workforce reform....

  12. What next 3……….. • We are at the very early stages, and as such we are keen to have your thoughts • Today is part of a bigger evaluation which will help shape the design of the model, however we hope to go out for wider consultation in the New Year • Aim to begin delivering from April 2008
