Background • Geography • Indonesia is an archipelagic country with approximately consists of 17 thousand islands • It is strategic location enables Indonesia to have an important role in International sea transportation, however • It is also vulnerable for illegal traffic within in remote areas, as well as potential of accident by trans boundary movement of hazardous wastes and their disposal .

Specific Effects • There has no evidence direct effect of illegal trafficking, however • Clean up 50 ton Hazardous wastes in Galang Baru Batam Indonesia • DDT has been ban since 30 years ago, but high concentration of residual still exist in the environment: • Some agricultural areas contained high level of DDT residues up to 2.214 ng/g • .
