Structure of WUT’s budget 2002 Operating costs (appr.): - didactic activities - 72,9 MEuro - research - 24,9 MEuro - other - 0,35 MEuro Total budget: 98,15 MEuro Income from international projects (appr.): - EU projects - 0,80 M$ - other contracts - 0,50 M$ Total intern. - 1,28 M$ (1,26 % of total budget or 5,00 % of research budget)

Fifth Framework Programme 1998-2002 Fifth Framework Programme • 55 projects accepted and financed by the European Commission • 8 WUT’s Professors are the co-ordinators of their contracts 2002 –Crystal Ball “Brussel’s Prize” for the best Polish university that was most active in the 5th Framework Programme in Poland (awarded by the MSR&IT)

Fifth Framework Programme Conclusions: - Polish researchers have no influence on promotion and selection of research priorities important in for country, - incoherent economic and payment systems with EU level create significant difficulties in formulation of proper project budgets, - unequal position of parties in preparations, negotiations and execution of contract’s obligations (i.e. delays on Commission’s side) -

LEONARDO DA VINCI Programme Poland became associated to programme 1998 WUT participation since beginning: - 7 pilot projects (in 3 as a coordinator), - 44 mobility projects (in 2 as a coordinator). Mobility contract ITUS I and ITUS II - 58 WUT students on industrial internships in 9 EU countries; - but ... only 2 students (France and Spain) at WUT For 2003, signed: - 49 agreements for students’ mobility with 29 LEONARDO Centres in 10 European countries
