Formal Research Paper Reminders • 3 sources needed; no wikipedia • You may include aspects of your interview, but an entire paragraph should not be dedicated to interview • No I, you, us, we, etc. • No contractions (can’t, wouldn’t, etc.) • No hypothetical questions • Only 2 appropriate quotes can be used, and each quote should not exceed 2 sentences in length.
MLA In-text Citation • You don’t have to cite every sentence • Once your done using a source, you cite the last sentenceof that source’s paraphrased information • All quotes need an in-text citation • See website for additional examples

Tone • Watch tone; you don’t want to be too argumentative, assuming, all knowing. Just state the facts
Thesis • Thesis is the MOST specific sentence in introduction. • Transplant patients should not have to pay for their new organs. • I think all body enhancing agents should be illegal for professional athletes. • All middle school classrooms should be comprised of the same gender because the students will learn better, more conflicts will be avoided and teachers will be more effective. • A democracy if the best form of government. • Barack Obama is the first black president. • The reason I was voting for Obama was because if McCain died, Governor Palin would become President; also, Obama would be a change for our country, and lastly Obama’s presidential candidate Biden has more experience that Palin.
Conclusion • A conclusion should not be introducing any new information.
