Context - research Research conducted in 2007 into perceptions of UQ Courses and Programs website Identified that: • Most program and course–related information sought is available • Website has limited functionality • Website is difficult to access and use. September 2009
Context - objectives • Provide a single database to hold the authoritative information on UQ programs and plans; • Improve ability for faculty owners to maintain up to date and informative content; • Include tracking capability to manage academic program approval process; • Develop system with flexibility and capability to support program-related information for next five years. September 2009
Context • Decision by Steering Committee to build database as a module of SI-net; • Work commenced in August 2008; • Website interface enhanced as interim step; • Interface tested with users, refined and launched in July 2008; • Prototype tested in July 2009; • Open for staff testing 3.9.09 – 18.9.09; • New site live 5.10.09. September 2009
Outcomes • Course and program information now part of SI-net • Based on more flexible software, more robust technology • Easier to manage and support • Improved reporting available • Greater functionality provided • Streamlined interface and access to information September 2009
