Students know to open their snacks quietly and to continue working, so that there is no interruption or distraction.
Birthday Celebrations • The State of Texas has revised the guidelines for birthday treats at school. Parents may only provide cupcakes, cookies, donuts or water for their child’s birthday. It is preferable that the items be purchased rather than homemade to ensure that they are all prepared in an environment with a Certified Food Handler. • Food items for birthdays may be dropped off in the office either before school or during the day. They will be delivered to the classroom by the office staff. • Effective Aug., 1, 2006, Texas Public School Nutrition Policy specifically prohibits guest speakers and other school visitors from providing Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value (FMNV) and all forms of candy to elementary school students. • If you would like to bring a special lunch for your child on his/her birthday or any other day, please remember, you may ONLY provide lunch for your child. We cannot allow you to bring lunch to other students.
