Project Overview • Instrumentation and analysis system for a aluminum-fuelled hydrogen-powered golf cart. • Primary goal: aid in very promising hydrogen-fuel technology codenamed “Alumoline”. • Sensors to monitor important hydrogen system readings. • Dashboard display similar to Toyota Prius and Nissan GT-R.

Naman Chopra • Provide team with a vision of project objectives • PCB Soldering/Packaging/Integrating into vehicle • Sensor and parts selection • Intervene when necessary to aid the group in resolving issues • Encourage creativity, risk-taking and constant improvement • Coordinate team logistics
Suan-Aik Yeo • Team and project organization • Power supply design • Microcontroller programming • Interface microcontroller with SD card • Intel Atom motherboard setup and configuration
Darin Tanaka • Intel Atom board configuration to use javax.comm API • Design of high level RS-232 protocol • Java GUI • Microcontroller Communication code • Miscellaneous (PCB reviewing, Parts Ordering, overall system design)
Ronny Wijaya • Develop the PCB through the PADS software • Helped Naman in soldering and packaging • Tested the PCB during the building process • Miscellaneous (parts ordering, overall system design)
Project Demonstration • An ability to receive and correctly record values from various sensors. • An ability to give appropriate warnings and troubleshooting instructions if a sensor detects something wrong. • An ability to store data on external memory. • An ability to use a touch screen to send commands to the microcontroller to control the logging of data and to provide a user configurable display for the logging of data from multiple sensors. • An ability for the microcontroller to receive and execute commands to remotely enable, disable and control the sampling rate of multiple sensors.
