Runway Excursions2005-2012 Considering all Business Jet Accidents Worldwide Breiling, 2012 C-FOQA CENTERLINE
Why don’t we choose to Go-Around? • According to ALAR Briefing Note 7.1 • Excessive confidence in a quick recovery • Excessive confidence – long and dry runways • Inadequate preparation or lack of commitment • Absence of decision making because of fatigue or workload C-FOQA CENTERLINE
2013 Next Steps • Continue to develop strategies to monitor and predict risk • Correlate approach and landing stability risk factors • Investigate fatigue related risk factors and determine their suitability for monitoring • Consider the impact of skills erosion and automation dependence C-FOQA CENTERLINE
2013 Next Steps • Establish a Next Generation Safety Program for Business Aviation • Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing • ASIAS and InfoShare – Data Fusion • Risk Based, Data Driven Training (SOQA) • Fully integrated into operational risk assessments C-FOQA CENTERLINE
2013 Final Words • Incorporate C-FOQA into your SMS • Safety Assurance • Cost Effective • Team Building • Building block to next generation safety program C-FOQA CENTERLINE
