  2. Why is publicity so important in Theatre? • You need to publicize in order to have an audience attend your event/show.

  3. Ways to Advertise • TV Radio NewspaperPosters • Magazines Billboards Flyers • Promotional Give-Aways • P.A. announcements(morning announcement) • Power Point slides in the commons • Internet: Facebook, Websites, other social networking sites.

  4. Ways to Advertise • The number 1 way to advertise….. WORD OF MOUTH This is the most power of advertising strategies. When people have positive reviews of your show or business … you tend to get more repeat business as well as a increased ticket sales.

Information that should appear on a POSTER • Producing Organization • Title • Playwright • Graphic Design (the illustration/art work) • Dates • Times of the performances • Location (street address) • Phone number for ticket information • Website address • Publisher’s information: • “Produced through special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.”

Information that should appear in a Program • Producing Organizations • Title • Playwright • Graphic Design • The setting of the story • Intermission note • Production Staff: directors, designers, choreographers, etc.) • Technical Crews (lights, sound, props, costumes, scenery) • The Cast (actors and the roles played) • Special Thanks to individuals and Sponsors • Publisher’s Information
