  1. Introduction - The Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre is one of the oldest tertiary care, multi-specialty Trust hospitals of the country. This year is the 50th year of its existence. In the late 60s, when the establishment of large private hospitals was not common, the institution was conceptualized & endowed to the city of Mumbai by Seth Lokoomal Chanrai. Seth Chanrai came from a family of philanthropists who had businesses in many countries. The family had already supported many small & large projects. Seth Lokoomal entrusted Dr. Shantilal Mehta the task of establishing an ultra-modern centrally located medical centre where people of all races and creeds could receive the benefits of advanced health care. Jaslok Hospital is situated at Dr. G Deshmukh Marg, Peddar Road which is a main artery of South Mumbai and overlooking the Arabian Sea. The name Jaslok was derived from the names of Seth Lokoomal & his wife Smt. Jasotibai. Seth Chanrai’s vision was implemented and brought to reality largely by his Brother-in-law Dada Mathradas Assomull. The hospital was inaugurated on 6th July 1973 by the erstwhile Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi.

  4. Overview of PRP Treatment for Knee - PRP is an autologous blood product with platelet concentrations above baseline values. The preparation process involves the extraction of blood from the patient which is then centrifuged to obtain a concentrated suspension of platelets by plasmapheresis. It then undergoes a two-stage centrifugation process to separate the solid and liquid components of the anticoagulated blood. PRP treatment for knee owes its therapeutic use to the limited evidence that growth factors released by the platelets possess multiple regenerative properties. Tissue repair is a complex process comprising chemotaxis, angiogenesis, cell proliferation and matrix formation. Platelets are involved in all of these functions by the release of growth factors. High concentrations of proteins such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), endothelial cell growth factor and fibroblast growth factor have led to suggestions that PRP may be useful in conditions requiring tissue healing.

  5. Restorative Therapies in Platelet Rich Plasma for Knee Restorative therapies in Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for knee in Mumbai encompass a range of treatments designed to repair and revitalize knee tissues. PRP, with its concentration of platelets and growth factors, plays a crucial role in stimulating the body’s innate healing mechanisms. These therapies prove especially advantageous for individuals dealing with knee problems such as ligament injuries, osteoarthritis, or other conditions necessitating tissue rejuvenation. By utilizing PRP, healthcare professionals can aid patients in restoring function and alleviating knee pain, often without resorting to invasive surgical procedures. At Jaslok Hospital, we believe in the power of restorative therapies when it comes to PRP for knee. Our dedicated team of experts specializes in tailoring PRP treatments to address the unique needs of each patient. We understand that every case is different, and a personalized approach ensures the best possible outcomes.

  6. Benefits of PRP Treatment for Knee • Intra-articular PRP injections in active/chronic patients with knee OA show significant improvements in pain reduction, improved symptoms and quality of life. Here are some of the major benefits of PRP treatment for knee: • Natural Healing: PRP therapy stimulates the body’s natural healing processes to repair damaged knee tissues. • Reduced Pain: PRP treatment can significantly reduce knee pain and discomfort. • Minimally Invasive: It is a minimally invasive procedure, reducing the risk of complications compared to surgery. • Short Recovery Time: PRP injections for knees typically have a shorter recovery time compared to surgical interventions. • Customized Treatment: PRP therapy can be tailored to address specific knee conditions, providing personalized care. • Low Risk of Infection: The procedure carries a low risk of infection since it uses the patient’s own blood. • Improved Function: PRP therapy can enhance knee joint function, increasing mobility and flexibility. • Long-Lasting Results: Many patients experience long-lasting relief from knee issues after PRP treatment. • Fewer Side Effects: PRP therapy is associated with minimal side effects, making it a safe option for many. • Potential Cost Savings: PRP therapy can be a cost-effective alternative to more invasive knee treatments.
