  3. The Love of God • What do we do when our love grows cold? • Sharing the love you feel • John 15:9-17 • Eph. 3:14-19 • God's Love • John 3:16; Matt. 5:45 • 1 John 4:12-21 • Showing and sowing - 1 John 3:16-23

  4. Compassion for lost souls • Our Lord showed compassion for all people • Lost - Matt. 23:37 • Sick - Matt. 14:14 • Hungry - Matt. 15:32 • Blind - Matt. 20:34 • Bereaved - Luke 7:13, 15 • Matt. 11:5

  5. A sense of purpose • The Lord always kept in mind the work which he came to do • John 4:27-34; 5:30, 36; 6:38 • John 17:4; 19:28-30 • He did not let anything keep him from his work - Matt. 16:21-23 • As we learn God's will, we learn that our purpose is to proclaim the praise who called us - 1 Peter 2:9-10

  6. The joy set before us • Jesus was motivated to endure the cross because of the joy set before him • Heb. 12:2 • What motivates us? • Eternity with God • 3 John 4; 1 Thess. 2:17-20 • Rev. 21:1-5 • 1 Tim. 1:2; 2 Tim. 1:2

  7. The terror of the Lord • Jesus warned us of judgment to come - Mark 9:43-48 • He taught us to fear God - Matt. 10:28 • 2 Cor. 5:9-11 - it was what motivated Paul • Heb. 10:26-31 - It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. • Acts 24:25 - Paul was not afraid to warn people and we should not be either.
