Enabling Factors: What resources and funding sources are available and accessible? Constraints: What obstacles are you facing today and in the future? Infrastructure, Hardware, Support and Software: What modifications need to be done to the existing infrastructure (e.g., network, electrical) to accommodate the new laptops?   12. How can it Transform Courses? • Repurposing/Combining multimedia components • Annotate using ink, recognized text, multimedia • Search & analyze using note flags and search function • All-in-one portable device

  13. Repurposing Materials • Inserting Documents as pictures • Inserting Screen Clippings • Pointing to Files • Templates can be shared via email

  14. Bringing it all together • Sample Materials for an entrepreneurship course combining video, powerpoint slides, web resources, and an excel spreadsheet • Ink annotations and note flags help students highlight key points

  15. Pausing playback to make a point • Diagrams and Annotations may be added on-the-fly while video is being presented in class or • stored as part of the page containing the video

  16. Multimedia Feedback to Students • Presentations recorded using webcam or other video camera • Annotations linked to video • Video and notes may be emailed with OneNote page

  17. Community Based Learning: Mid-Semester Usability Test • OneNote used to capture user impressions of community asset mapping application v1 • Developer team notes user suggested tweaks • Audio synched to notes

  18. Community-Based Research & Hypertext Reports • Students used OneNote to build multimedia notes on their community visits • Multimedia materials (e.g. WMA files) used in reports – in OneNote, on the Web, in powerpoint

  22. That about sums it up • “I used the Tablet pc primarily for taking notes in class. I was lucky that all my professors used PowerPoint presentations, therefore it was easy to take notes on the slides. I also sat in on some of the HUP classes (the 1 unit activity) when they were lecturing some of the student athletes were impressed with the writing capability because they said it would make it easier on the coach to show strategies and diagrams and then save it on the tablet rather than erasing off the blackboard. The devices are nice and do have a tremendous potential. i wasn't fond of the loading time it takes, so I primarily left the tablet in a hibernation mode.”
