E N D
Of late, the land scam case is doing its round in Chhatisgarh and day-by-day it is becoming viral. The said case is related to the mla brijmohan agrawalwho is otherwise known as “Mohan Bhaiya”. Of course, he is a prominent political figure in the state of Chhatisgarh and belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was the first youngest MLA in the year 1990 at the age of 31 from Raipur constituency. From then on, he has been a major factor in the victory of BJP in both erstwhile Madhya Pradesh as well as in the present Chhatisgarh. Being rich in minerals, this state is very active in political activities and contributes to the India’s overall politics. So, whatever defamation is aroused against BJP will not only affect the Chhatisgarh state but also the centralgovernment. As we have seen, Brijmohan Agrawal is a major factor in the victory of BJP. This is due to the fact that he works at the ground level i.e. directly with the masses. This makes him not only to understand all their problems but also helps in conveying the welfare activities that are introduced in the state by the BJP government to the people. This way, BJP has built a lot of goodwill inthe state.
This is what has made the opposition party to bring the derogative allegations not only against Brijmohan Agrawal but also against his family. His wife is Sarita Agrawal and children – Abhishek, Shubhkriti andAditya. The said land scam case is that Mrs Sarita Agrawal bought 4.12 hectares of land in Sirpur which is a Buddhist pilgrimage site. Apart from India, it attracts lots of tourist from around the world. Hence, they are planning to build a tourist resort for which the work has been started and done by the MLA’s son Abhishek through his company. Actually this land was donated by Vishnu Ram Sahu, a farmer to the erstwhile Madhya Pradesh’s Water Resources Department to be used for public welfare activity. However, when Madhya Pradesh was divided and Chhatisgarh was created, this land was given for the forest department of the Chhatisgarh government. In the year 2003, about Rs 22.50 lakhs was spent in the afforestation of this forest land. The allegation is that Brijmohan Agrawal was then heading the water resources department and had bought this land using his power. However, Brijmohan Agrawal has denied this fact and said that the land in question was bought by his wife by following all the procedure and making payment to the farmer. He further said that in his election affidavit, he has mentioned this land also. He is also ready to face any probe and if found guilty, he will hand over the land. He also further stated that the said allegation against brijmohan agrawalfamilyis only a conspiracy by the opposition party.
Brijmohan Agrawal is well educated, humble and modest statesman. He has been into many developmental activities of the Chhatisgarh state. He has closely worked with the people at the ground level and is a familiar face in the Chhatisgarh state. Hispopularity has helped BJP several time to win in the elections held and run the government. His family also has the reputation of participating in several social activities. Mr Raman Singh the Chief Minister of the state has ordered his chief secretary for a detailed report on this issue and so far nothing has come against the MLA or his family. Under the circumstances, brijmohan agrawal newson land scam issue is baseless and mere rumour to diminish not only his popularity but also of the ruling BJPgovernment.
