  2. History • In 1957, Cal-State Fullerton became the 12th State College in California. • Founding president is Dr. William B. Langsdorf. • Orange County State College started classes for 452 full and part time students in Sept. 1959. • In the fall of 1960, the college opened it’s own classes on it’s own campus. • The first permanent building, the six-story Letters and Science Building was occupied in 1963. • Cal-State Fullerton University had many changes in it’s name over the long periods of time.

Mission Of College • Ensure the preeminence of learning • Provide high quality programs that meet the needs of students, community, and region • Enhance scholarly and creative activity • Make collaboration integral to our activities • Create an environment where all students have the opportunity to succeed • Expand connections and partnerships with our region

Demographics • Students who work, still take course work • More undergraduate students come from public schools than private • More students come from CA community colleges than from other Cal-States, universities, colleges, and states or countries combined. • More new graduate students come from Cal-State campuses than California colleges, universities, and other states or countries combined. • More women than men • The majority of people that attend are white.

  5. Majors • Provides a diversity of educational opportunities to satisfy the broad range of backgrounds and interests of its students and the surrounding community. • Highest major is in Business Administration and Economics. • 2nd major is the School of Humanities and Social Sciences • Academic programs include 50 bachelor's degrees, 44 master's degrees, 47 minors, 3 resident certificates, and 11 teaching credential programs.

  6. Admission Requirements • An acceptable High School grade point average in combination with SAT or ACT scores. • 8 semesters of college prep English • 6 semesters of math including Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra II • 2 semesters of U.S. History/government • 2 semesters of laboratory science • 4 semesters of the same foreign language • 2 semesters of visual and performing arts • 6 semesters of electives.

  7. Cost • Residents of California pay $11,209 per year (two semesters) for under graduates taking six or fewer units. • $1,809 per year for those taking more than six units. • Graduate fees are $1,257 per year for six unit or less and $1,887 for more than six units. • Nonresidents of California pay those fees plus tuition of $246 per semester units. • A nine month student budget for 2000-2001 for the following: fees, books & supplies, rm./brd., misc., and transportation total is $7,407.

Room • Students that live on campus pay $6,212 for housing and meals. • 396 college housing spaces available; all were occupied 1996-97. • Freshmen are given the priority for college housing. • Off-campus living is permitted. • Students have an option of coed housing available. Residents assistants live in dorms.

  9. Clubs and Activities • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Alliance (LGBA) • Society of Women Engineers • AIESEC (International Association of Students in Economics and Business Management) • Biologists Educating Students & Teachers (B.E.S.T.) • Comparative Religion Student Association

"Selling Points" • Fullerton tries to make the students have more collegial spirit by constructing more buildings. • There was $1 million put into computers and library for the students to learn more and explore it. • The National Science Foundation ranks Fullerton in the fourth in the nation among master’s colleges and universities for graduates who will earn science and engineering doctorates. • The Performing Arts Major’s College Guide lists Fullerton on the most highly recommended undergraduate programs, for drama and musical theater. • The past two years Cal State Fullerton was awarded more than $19 million in grants and contracts from public and private sources.

  11. Fraternities and Sororities • Alpha Lambda -ALROTC co-ed fraternity • Delta Chi Omicron -DCO Asian-based sorority • Delta Sigma Chi -DSCLatino-based co-ed fraternity • Lambda Sigma Chi -LSC Co-ed fraternity which promotes Latino issues • Theta Delta Beta -QDBAsian-based men’s fraternity

  12. Sports • These are the sports at Fullerton that are played by men; basketball, baseball, cross country, fencing, softball, track & field, wrestling, and soccer. • For women at Fullerton there is; cross country, fencing, softball, track & field, basketball, gymnastics, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. • There is also a athletic club it is called “The Titan Athletic Club”. • The Athletic Club is an annual giving program that raises funds for athletics scholarships at Cal State Fullerton. • The scholarship funds come from ticket sales and private and student support.
