Pitch • A pitch motion is an up or down movement of the nose of the aircraft • The pitch axis is perpendicular to the aircraft centerline and lies in the plane of the wings • The pitching motion is being caused by the deflection of the elevator of this aircraft.
Roll • The roll axis lies along the aircraft centerline. • The rolling motion is being caused by the deflection of the ailerons of this aircraft
Yaw • The yaw axis is perpendicular to the wings and lies in the plane of the aircraft centerline. • A yaw motion is a side to side movement of the nose of the aircraft as shown in the animation. • The yawing motion is being caused by the deflection of the rudder of this aircraft
Lift • Lift is the force that directly opposes the weight of an airplane and holds the airplane in the air. Lift is generated by every part of the airplane, but most of the lift on a normal airliner is generated by the wings.
