  2. Stereotypes The stereotype of women is usually to stay at home and cook and clean and look after the children whilst the man goes to work and brings in the income. Also the man is seen as strong and independent and the woman is usually hopeless and not as smart.

  3. Stereotypes in the media Disney: From an early age, mainstream media puts images into our brains, telling us what is appropriate for our gender type. Young girls are hounded with images of princesses, who tell them that the key to happiness is being fashionable, beautiful, and finding a prince to save you and are unable to be independent. Young men are taught that to be successful, you must be good looking and muscular. Young men are sometimes even taught that to be successful means to be manipulative.

  4. Changing gender roles Gender roles in society have changed throughout the years as now women are gaining more independence and have to ability to vote and work whereas in the past this would be forbidden
