Protocols for school visits • Dress code for schools in England is normally professional/business • Timekeeping – punctuality is expected/demanded! • No use of mobile phones in school • When observing, avoid any interruption to teaching • You may be invited to talk to students during lessons – but wait until invitation comes • Schools will provide you with lunch – this will be halal • Safeguarding culture • Strictly no photography/filming in school (or of students in the vicinity of schools) • Hosts will probably want you to talk to students – but don’t initiate this uninvited • No physical contact with students SUP4PCL University of Leicester 10-11 October 2017
