Redhead Habitat Model • Laguna Madre (LM) winters over 75% of continent's redheads (Michot 2000). • LM Redheads forage almost exclusively on shoalgrass (Halodule wrightii) rhizomes (McMahan 1970). • LM Redheads forage almost exclusively in depths <30cm (Mitchell 1992) • Freshwater wetlands adjacent to shoalgrass foraging sites are important sources of dietary fresh water (Adair et. al. 1996). • The distribution of freshwater within 10km of shoalgrass likely affects its availability as foraging habitat (Laguna Madre Freshwater Wetlands Study Group 2000).

Prioritization Criteria • Proximity to shoalgrass. • Degree of isolation of each pond. • Cumulative ranking of proximity and isolation.
