GTS system at RTH Beijing • Current GTS system at RTH Beijing • The back end hosts and the facilities for non IP connections started operation in 1992, partially upgraded in 1997, and will be replaced by new facilities early next year. • The facilities for IP connections started operation in December 2001.

GTS system at RTH Beijing • New GTS system at RTH Beijing • X.25 circuits and asynchronous circuits connect to the new system via a multiprotocol router. • Computer systems • The front end and the back end are two separate systems. • Each system is a duplicated system. • UNIX based • Application Software • Front end • collecting and transmitting data via GTS links. • Supporting FTP, TCP sockets, X.25, Asynchronous • Back end • Checking, switching data • Packaging messages and files • Distributing data to the other internal operational systems, such as real-time database. • Operational monitor system • monitoring and managing the application system • C/S based software • running on Linux based PCs • Internet Web Server • Located in the DMZ of CMA’s Internet system • providing read-time observations and CMA’s products to national and international users • collecting meteorological data from other GTS centers by FTP and E-mail via Internet • The new system will start operation in January 2004.
