Progress so far July 2003 • Established 5 health communities • Established New GMS Contract Steering Group – chaired by Director of Primary Care South Liverpool PCT • Established reference groups to focus on specific areas of work:- • Capital Investment & Estates • Clinical Standards • Finance • I M & T • PMS • Technical Support • Workforce Development
All PCTs have an identified lead for the New GMS Contract • All PCTs have an action/implementation plan • All PCTs have a project team/task group
Key messages • The New Contract will come into force on 1st April 2004 • Sharing good practice is one of the keys to successful implementation • Effective communication between C & M SHA, PCTs and practice teams is essential • Engagement between PCTs and practice teams is essential • We must not loose sight of the fact that GPs must be paid in a timely and accurate manner
