Quoting the Imams about Fatima #1 • Imam Ridha and Imam Jawaad said: "We heard Ma'Moon narrating from Rashid, from Al-Mahdi, from Al-Mansoor, from his father, from his grandfather that Ibn Abbas who said to Mu'awiya: ‘Do you know why Fatima was given that name?’ Mu’awiya said: ‘No.’ Ibn Abbas answered: ‘Because she and her followers are safeguarded from Hellfire, as I had heard Allah’s Messenger saying this’. • A companion narrates about Imam al-Saadiq asked him: Do you know the explanation of the name Fatima? I said: ‘Inform me my Master’ He answered: ‘She is safeguarded from evil’ He then added: ‘Had Amir Al-Mu’mineen not married her, no man on earth from Adam on, would have been suitable for her until the Day of Rising.
Quoting the Imams about Fatima #2 • Imam Ridha, quoting his Fathers said: "The Messenger of Allah said: ‘0 Fatima, do you know why you have been given the name of Fatima?’ • Ali questioned: ‘Why was she named Fatima?’ • The Prophet replied: Because she and her true followers are protected from Hellfire. • Imam Ridha said that his father quoted Amir Al-Mu’mineen Ali as saying: • I heard Allah’s Messenger say: ‘Fatima was given that name because Allah has safeguarded her and her progeny from the Fire: meaning those who meet Allah as monotheists and believers in what I preach.’
Ali about Fatima, #1Tasbeeh Fatima تسبيح فاطمه • In explanation to someone about Fatima, Ali said: "Should I speak to you about Fatima and Myself? • She was my spouse who was the most beloved to the Prophet. • Once, she carried water using a water skin until it scarred her chest, and • She ground (grain) using a hand-mill until blisters appeared on her hands, • She swept the floor until her clothes became dusty and • Lit the fire under the cooking pot until her clothes became mud colored from the smoke. • Fatima suffered pain as a result of this, so I said to her: • Why don't you ask your father for a servant to relieve you from these jobs? • When Fatima went to the Prophet she found that he had company; and was too shy to talk to him, so she left the house. But the Prophet knew that she had come for something." • The Prophet came to our house….
Ali about Fatima (Continued) Tasbeeh Fatima تسبيح فاطمه • The Prophet (pbuh) sat near our heads and said: 'Fatima, what was your need when you came to Muhammad yesterday?' • Imam Ali added: "I was afraid that Fatima would not tell him, so I pulled my head from under the cover and said: "I will inform you, Messenger of Allah!: • She carried water using a water skin until her chest was scarred, she ground (grain) using a hand mill until blisters appeared on her hands, she swept the floor until her clothes became dusty and lit the fire under the cooling pot until her clothes were mud colored from the smoke. So I said to her: `Why don't you ask your father for a servant to relieve you form these jobs?'“ • Upon hearing this, the Prophet said: • Shall I teach you something that is better for you than a servant and a world with everything in it? After every prayer say: Allaahu Akbar thirty four (34) times, Al-Hamdu lillaah thirty three (33) times and Subhan Allah thirty three (33) times then conclude that with la illaaha illa Allah. Surely this is better for you than that which you wanted and the world and its belongings.' • Thus, Fatima adhered to this glorification after every prayer; and it came to be known as `Tasbeeh Fatima تسبيح فاطمه.'
About Fatima’s Station • al-Harawi said to al-Husain Ibn Rooh: “How many daughters did the Messenger of Allah have?” Ibn Rooh answered: “Four” • al-Harawi then asked: "Who was the best of them?" Ibn Rooh answered, "Fatima" • al-Harawi then asked: "Why was she the best while she was the youngest and least company to the Prophet of Allah?" • Ibn Rooh then answered: "She was the best because she possessed the unique attributes: • She inherited the Messenger of Allah. • The Prophet's progeny are her children. • Besides, Allah gifted her with these traits because He knew her sincere adherence and purity of intention to worship Him."
A'isha narrates about Fatima: #1 • Fatima answered: `I would not announce the secret of the Messenger of Allah!' • Masrouq reports that A'isha told him: • "We, the Prophet's wives, were gathered around him when Fatima walked towards us; • by Allah her walk is exactly the same as that of the Messenger of Allah. When he saw her he greeted her by saying: `Welcome my daughter.' He then asked her to sit to his right or left. • He whispered something to her that caused her to cry; but when he saw her sadness, he whispered something else to her which caused her to cheer up. • (When I saw this) I said to her: `The Messenger of Allah bestowed you with a special secret, yet you cry?' • (A'isha continues) When the Prophet left this world I asked Fatima: "What did he whisper to you?" • Fatima’s answer….. See next slide
A'isha narrates about Fatima: #2Fatima’s answer • After the Prophet's death, I said to her: `I insist on you ─by my right over you ─ to tell me (what did he say to you)!' • Fatima answered: 'Yes, I will tell you now. The first time he whispered to me, he told me that Gabriel used to review the Quran with him once a year, but this year he reviewed it twice. So, he said, I think the time of my departure is near. Therefore, fear Allah and be patient, for I will be a good (person) to precede you.' • Fatima added: `so I cried, as you saw. When he noticed my sadness, he once again said to me: 'Fatima, is it not satisfying to you to be the Mistress of believing women (or the Mistress of the women of my Ummah)?"
Du’aa Fatima #1 • Oh Allah! • Belittle myself in my eyes and magnify Your station to me. • And inspire me in Your obedience and the practice that pleases Thee and • To shun matters which are the cause of Your wrath, • Oh the most merciful of all! • Oh Allah! • Let me be content with the sustenance you grant me for as long as You keep me alive, and make me wholesome and sound in mind. • And forgive me and engulf me in Your mercy during my dying. • Oh Allah! • Help me not in something you have not predestined for me. And facilitate the achievement of that which you have predestined for me.
Du’aa Fatima #2 • Oh Allah! • Bestow the best of Your rewards upon my parents and • all who have rights of their blessings and beneficences upon me. • Oh my Lord! • Spare me the leisure and respite for the object for which You have created me. • And do not make me be preoccupied and totally involved in my affairs. • And do not torment me when I ask forgiveness. • And do not deprive me of what I yearn and ask You for.
The Joy of the Grandchildren • Osama ibn Zaid said, • I had business with the Prophet. I knocked at his door. He came out. As I was talking to him, I realized he had something hidden under his cloak and he was holding onto it with difficulty, but I did not know what it was. When I had finished saying what I had come to say, I asked, `What is that which you are holding, Prophet of God? • The Prophet, while his face filled with delight and pleasure, pulled apart his cloak and I saw al-Hasan and al-Husain. At the same time that he wanted to explain his unusual behavior to me, he could not take his eyes off of them; • In a tone full of joy and happiness, as if speaking to himself, he said, `these are my two sons and the sons of my daughter'.
The Prophet’s family • In the 5th year of Ali and Fatima's marriage, one year after al-Husain, a girl was born to this family: Zainab. • And in the following year, another girl, Umm Kulthoom was born. They were named after the daughters of the Prophet. • Fatima did become the Prophet’s 'only one‘, since the death of the Prophet’s daughters: Zainab, Ruqayya, and Umm Kulthoom. • In the 8th year of the immigration, God gave him a son, Ibrahim, but he also died. • Now there is Muhammad and Fatima, and her children. • Fatima, and her children are the family of the Prophet. • The love of the Prophet for Hasan and Husain increases. • These two children, along with their sisters have become his whole life and he spends all of his free time with them.
Where they Lived: • Why from among all of the Companions, from among all of his close family, from among all of his daughters, should only Fatima be in the mosque and wall to wall to the Prophet’s home? • The house of Muhammad is the house of Fatima. • The family in which Ali is the father, Fatima, the mother, Hasan and Husain, the sons and finally, Zainab and Umm Kulthoom, the daughters, is the family of the Prophet. • The family of the Prophet is this unique family, this unique home that is so emphasized in the Quran and the Traditions, • and which has been cleansed of all impurities, is chaste, and guarded, for all generations and ages to come.
Fatima's Knowledge • Fatima acquired her divine knowledge from • the clear spring of Prophethood and • received the excellence of truth from the house of revelation. • So her attentive heart was: • embellished with wisdom and • her brilliant reason together with her brightness realized to the fullest extent the real meaning of every fact. • Yet, despite the fact that Fatima heard an abundant volume of narrations from her father • what has been reported on her authority is limited to certain issues.
The Prophet about the Future of Fatima • It was natural for the Prophet who knew and foretold the future events, to reveal to his family, • This is especially so to his beloved daughter Fatima, • the events which they would face in the future: • that she, Fatima, was going to suffer from the harsh treatment of some Muslims after his death and • that she would be the first to follow him to the blessings of Paradise after his departure.
The Prophet about the Future of FatimaBihar v.10, wrote: • "The Prophet said: `When I saw her (Fatima), I remembered what would happen to her after my death. • It is as if I (could see) humiliation entering her house, • her sanctity violated, • her right seized, • her inheritance usurped, • her side broken, and • her unborn child being caused to be aborted, all while she is crying: "Muhammad!, but she will not be answered, • She asks for help but she will not be helped. • She will remain afflicted, sad and crying after me: • remembering the cessation of revelation from her father's house at one time, and • remembering being separated from me another time. • She will become estranged at night, when she used to spend listening to me reciting the Quran. She then will see herself humiliated after she was honored during the days of her father...'
Fatima bemoans the Prophet #1 • Fidh’dha فضه , Fatima's helper, spoke of Fatima's sadness; she said: • "It was on the eighth day after the Prophet's death that Fatima revealed the extent of her grief and inability to bear life without the Prophet. She came to the Mosque and while crying said: • `Oh! Father, Oh! My sincere friend • Oh! Abu Al-Qasim! Oh! The helper of the widowed and the orphans • Whom do we have for Ka'ba and the Mosque? • Who does your saddened and grieved daughter have after you?" • Fidh’dha added: "Fatima then proceeded towards the tomb of the Prophet; it was difficult for her to walk because her tears filled her eyes. She passed out; so the women rushed to rescue her; after putting water of her face, she regained consciousness; then Fatima said: • My strength has been eradicated • My endurance has betrayed me • My enemies have rejoiced at my misfortune • And my grief will kill me
Fatima bemoans the Prophet #2(Continued) • Father! I remain bewildered and lonely, confused and lonesome • My voice is subdued, My back is broken, My life is disturbed • Father, I find no one after you to attend to my loneliness • Neither to stop my tears • Nor to support me in times of weakness • Surely the glorious revelations, the place of Gabriel's descent, and Michael's location have vanished after you • Father! Motives (of others) have changed • And gates have been shut in my face • Thus, I detest this world after you • And my tears shall be shed for you as long as breath continues to exist in me • My longing for you shall not cease • My sadness for (being separated from) you shall not vanish
Fatima bemoans the Prophet #3(Continued) • So how can mountains not sway? • Father!! With you went the light of the world. Its flowers wither away after blossoming in your presence • Father!! I will forever be sorrowful for you until we are reunited • Father!! Sleeping has left me since we have been separated • Father!! Who is there for the widows and the orphans and whom will we have for the Ummah until the Day of Rising?! • Father!! We became (after you) among the oppressed • Father!! • People shun us after you, after we were glorified by your presence among men • Thus, what tear shall not spill over on your departure? • What sadness (after you) shall not continue to exist? • Which eyelid shall be smeared with slumber? • You are the spring of faith and the light of the Prophets • And seas not dry out? How can the earth not tremble?
Fatima bemoans the Prophet #4 • Father!! I have been afflicted with the greatest of sorrow, and my affliction is not minor! • Father!! I have been inflicted with the greatest misfortune and the biggest desolation • Angels cry for you, and stars cease to move because of you • (after you) Your minbar is gloomy, Your minbar is empty of your inward conversation (with your Lord) • Your grave is joyful for holding you, and Paradise is delighted with your presence, and so are Supplication and Prayers • Father!! • How gloomy are your meeting places (without your presence)!! • How pained I am for you, until I soon join you!! • How bereaved is Abu Al-Hasan, the entrusted one!! The Father of your two sons, Al-Hasan and Al-Husain; your beloved ones • He whom you brought up as a youth, and made him your brother as a man • The most beloved of your companions to you • Abu Al-Hasan, who was the first to immigrate and help you • Sadness has overtaken us; Crying will kill us, And distress will always accompany us.'
