Common Nouns • Common nouns do not name specific persons, places, or things. • Most nouns are common nouns. • They are not capitalized (unless they come at the beginning of a sentence). • Examples: teacher, friend, president, actor. school, state, city, bank. cat, book, movie, dog.
Proper Nouns • Proper nouns name specific persons, places, or things. • They are almost always capitalized (even in the middle of a sentence. • Examples: Ms. Littler, Casey, Barack Obama, Chris Pratt American Prep Academy, Utah, Draper, Wells Fargo Felix, Harry Potter, The Avengers, Spot

Rule C: Singular ends in consonant + y Plural form changes y to i, adds es
