  2. Scenario 1 • Robert Chin loves his work as a physical therapy assistant. He is a favorite aong patients for his cheerful attitude and the encouragement he offers each one. However, Robert dislikes the paperwork of his job and is often careless in the documentataion he prepares after each patient session. He writes his cart notes quickly and the other health care workers find them difficult, if not impossible to read.

  5. Scenario 2 • Graciela Lopez is a respiratory therapist in a large hospital. Her schedule is often hectic because there are many patients, some in cricical condition. Graciela is a competent therapist and is well-liked by her patients because of her easy-going nature. However, she often fails to return equipment to its storace place or to report, as is hospital policy, when supplies need to be reordered.

  8. Scenario 3 • Sally Jensen works as a medical assistant tin a three-physician office in a small community. Sally has both administrative and clinical skills, although she works mainly in the back office assisting Dr. Rashid with patients. Sally has strong skills and performs her work completely, but she arrives for work up to a half and hour late at least once per week.

  11. Scenario 4 • Craig Johnson was recently hired by High-Tech Medical Labs after graduation from a lab tech program. He finds the work interesting and especially likes performing the various tests that are a part of the daily workload. He was given a facility policy and procedural manual at his new employee orientation but has not taken the time to read it. He finds it easier to continually ask his coworkers for the location of supplies and equipment and for methods of performing various lab procedures.

  14. Scenario 5 • John Nguyen is a registered nurse at Valley View Hospital. His work with patients is well-regarded by his supervisor. However, John is often ill-prepared for meetings. He fails to bring the materials requested, sometimes comes in tardy, and is inattentive during discussions. He rarely asks questions and supervisors frequently have to clarify new rules/policies/procedures after the fact.
