The 6th Annual African Women and Children's HIV/AIDS Health Summit aims to increase awareness, knowledge, and prevention of HIV/AIDS in the African immigrant community. The summit also addresses cultural and linguistic barriers to healthcare access and advocates for better policies to improve the quality of life for African immigrants.

HISTORY • African Hope Committee Inc. (AHC) was founded in 2003 to provide health education, immigration and special support services to the African immigrant population in New York City. • Under the leadership of Founder and Executive Director, Clarisse Mefotso Fall, AHC has expanded its services to a large number of clients from this underserved population. • During recent years, AHC has been recognized for dedicated work through grants, awards andproclamations.
MISSIONSTATEMENT The mission of the African Hope Committee, Inc. is to serve and improve the overall welfare of the African immigrant community tofacilitate greater assimilation and self-sufficiency
AHC VISION The vision of the African Hope Committee, Inc.is to provide health education, immigration services and the empowering of African and other immigrant population in New York City.
AHC GOALS • Increase awareness of HIV/AIDS in the immigrant population • Coordinate Annual Health Summit • Provide immigration services to African and other immigrants • Create a Give-Back Annual Initiative where one specific act of charity is directed to the benefit of one country in Africa per year • Develop a broader-based Board to include talent necessary to guide and implement African Hope Committee's initiatives • Create an internship program in partnership with two New York City colleges • Create a Family Empowerment Center • Create a coalition with other organizations serving immigrant New York City populations.

The Objectives of the Summit • Increasing Health Awareness and knowledge of HIV/AIDS in the African Community. • Encouraging women, youth and their families to participate in HIV/AIDS prevention activities including counseling and testing • Address Cultural and linguistic barriers in order to facilitate access to health care services for African Immigrants
Objectives of the Summit (contd) • Increasing fundraising for the sustainability of AHC’s HIV/AIDS Programs. • Engaging governments, politicians, and other organizations to develop new actionable policies that gear towards improving the quality of life of African immigrants. • Increasing the visibility of African women infected and affected by HIV/AIDS to decrease stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.
