Current Situation • High but fragmented knowledge & competence at LiU • A need to develop project control process at LiU • Educational series for administrators • Q&A website • Internal competence network • A need to develop a method for researchers: • Connect the different networks • Find projects for researchers that are interested in being in projects beneficial to both parties • Actively search for suitable projects where researchers can participate • Provide professional support when developing project applications & implementation • Create an arena for bringing new initiatives at LiU based on the font line state of the art scientific knowledge and regional development

LiU EU Support Steering Wheel • What? • Support shall work for cooperation between SMEs and researchers within the region as well as outside with the goal to increase exchange of resources, competence, and network/contacts • JCP shall support technology spread/sharing international with the goals to strengthen the region’s technology development platforms • Dev of methods for a long-term dev of competence within EUs frame work programs Who?A cooperation between Linköping University, Euro Info Centre, University’s holding AB and an IT Company*. It aims to support participation in EU’s R&D frameworks • What do we offer? • Development of project ideas • Successful project applications • Contract negotiations • Partner search/project search • Support at the start of a project • Project review • Seminars/workshops • Lunch meetings • Web site with up-to-date EU information • Web site with a database portal • Communicator of int. front line & technological development Methods?Method 1 Develop a clear description of EU service offer in the region, country… Method 2 Increase the awareness among SMEs about what kind of research in on-going in the region (including contacts) Method 3 Increase the awareness among researchers of what kind of SME development is on-going in the region (related to field of research)

Conclusions & Next Steps • Need for formalized EU support will offer high quality service • Synergy effects & spin-offs, increased participation in FP 6 • What does LiU expect from us/need from us? • Should we rank the EoIs & offer targeted high-end support to them? • Identify which LiU EoIs that have been id in Brussels? • Research the partners i.e are they strong and ‘Brussels credibly partners?
