Mouth • Breaks down food with teeth • Saliva helps break down food and make the food easier to swallow
Epoglottis • A small flap of tissue • Helps the food go in the right direction
Esophagus • A long cord that goes to the stomach • Helps push the food to the stomach using something call peristalsis
Stomach • Breaks down and mixes up the food with acid • Food turns into a liquid
Small Intestine • Takes nutrients out of the food and sent to the blood • Uses Bile made from the liver • The Bile is stored in the Gallbladder • Pancreas makes Enzymes
Large Intestine • Takes Water out of the food • Sent to the blood
Rectum • The liquid food turns into a solid
Anus • The solid exits
