  3. 1) Jesus is the Word • John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. • the staggering claim that John starts off with is the identity of Jesus. • Genesis 15:1  After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” • Psalm 33:6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.

  4. 2) The Word Became Flesh • He came down and became flesh, knowing He was killable, and would be killed. • Hebrews 2:10  For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. • Hebrews 2:18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

  5. 3) The Word Dwelt Among Us • Tabernacle Among Us • Exodus 29:42-46  It shall be a regular burnt offering throughout your generations at the entrance of the tent of meeting before the LORD, where I will meet with you, to speak to you there. There I will meet with the people of Israel, and it shall be sanctified by my glory. I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar. Aaron also and his sons I will consecrate to serve me as priests. I will dwell among the people of Israel and will be their God. And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.

  6. 4) Glory, Grace and Truth • And we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the father, full of grace and truth. • 2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. • John 8:31-32  So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
