  13. Slaughterhouses Control • Ministry of Agriculture through the veterinary department has a monitoring and supervisory action on slaughterhouses (livestock & Poultry). • Slaughterhouses Division within the department is the responsible official agency to do such supervision and monitoring.

  14. Responsibilities of Slaughterhouses Division • Regular visits are conducted to central and regional slaughterhouses for checking on the: • The routine meat inspection practices on livestock and poultry carcasses • Hygienic practices inside the slaughterhouse • Sanitary environment inside the slaughterhouse

  15. Responsibilities of Slaughterhouses Division • Managing the monthly , quarterly and annual reports submitted form the slaughterhouses, illustrating the followings: • Species of slaughtered animals • Number of slaughtered animals • Number of condemned carcasses • Reasons for condemnation

  16. Responsibilities of Slaughterhouses Division • Provide the animal health division at the veterinary department with the output of passive surveillance system that is obtained from routine inspection procedures.

  17. Responsibilities of Slaughterhouses Division • Submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports regarding the animal health status of the slaughtered animals, for considerations of the Veterinary department and to be included within the OIE country reports.

  18. Responsibilities of Slaughterhouses Division • Chairing a national technical committee for slaughterhouses supervision and monitoring, which consists of representatives from: • Ministry of Agriculture • Ministry of Health • Ministry of Municipality • Ministry Trade & Industry
