  2. What is Video-Whale? • An Open Source Video-Wall implementation • A collection of multiple screens, configured to act as one big screen

  3. The Hardware • 16 displays • 5 machines connected through an ethernet network: • A Server (Streamer) • Four Clients • Each group of four displays controlled by a single machine

  4. The Software • GNU/Linux (http://www.linux.org) • X Window System (http://www.x.org) • Xinerama • Gstreamer (http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org) • GNOME (http://www.gnome.org)

  5. What is Xinerama? Xinerama is an X extension that allows one to extend his/her desktop across multiple screens What is Gstreamer? Gstreamer is a multimedia framework which aims to be the future back-bone of GNOME and Unix/Linux Multimedia
