GhanshyamSarda has dedicated his life to working towards the upliftment of the jute industry in India. As a young graduate from St. Xavier's College (Kolkata), Mr. Sarda joined the family firm, quite unaware of his potential as a mogul in the making. Instead, he devoted his full attention to the then-dying jute sector, which had once been India's largest export earner. Mr. Sarda got involved with the jute industry when investors, employees, and everyone related to the sector had suffered losses. "I joined the business in the late '70s, and unfortunately, at that time, the raw jute Industry had hit rock bottom. The situation of Jute Traders had become very vulnerable as the sickness had plagued the Jute Industry into the closure of about 60% of the Jute Mills", he recalls.
With all his strength and determination, GhanshyamSarda resurrected nine ailing jute mills from the ruins of the dying industry, and since then, there has been no looking back.Today, the Sarda Group controls a significant share in India's booming jute sector.
