What is blended learning? - A learning environment that either combines teaching methods, delivery methods, media formats or mixture of all these. (Wan Fatima, 2008) - Combination of various aspects of traditional classroom with various aspects of online learning. (Sivapunniam, 2009) - Learning outside the traditional classroom using information technology for the delivery of the learning materials. (Farahiza, 2010) - Example: e-learning
What is the approaches forblended learning? 1) Skill-driven learning - Combines self-paced learning with instructor's support to develop specific skills 2) Attitude-driven learning -Combines various events and delivery media to develop specific behaviours 3) Competency-driven learning -Blends performance support tools with knowledge
What is the needs of adult learners? 1) Lesser contact hour 2) Morning classes 3) Close to home venues
What is the ARCS model of motivational design? - A motivational model that was created by John Keller in mission to finding possible ways to supplement the learning process with motivation. -Four areas: Attention, Relevance, Confidence and Satisfaction
Attention - Interest displayed by the learners in taking in concepts or ideas being taught. Relevance - Ensure that the instruction and topic of the lesson is relevant to Learners. Confidence - Establishing positive expectation for achieving success Satisfaction - Rewards from learning experiences.
What is the advantages of using blended learning? • Allow the learners to choose and make decision on what, when, where and how to learn • Help the learners in knowing their strengths and weaknesses. • Flexible • Enhance social interaction
What is the disadvantages of using blended learning? • System is not stable • Do not aware of their special roles in handling blended learning • Often neglect response requirements • Connectivity limitations
