Case study Amy – overseas student Beliefs of conspiracy against her, isolating self , but managing to attend for exams had 1 friend that she maintained trust in Threats to harm others thought she may stab someone Recently under Early Intervention service – concern re Mental Health Act may be required Accepted into CRHT and Joint visit arranged
CRHT progress • Agreed to crht although did not believe she was unwell • Agreeable to increase in medication – but crht concerned regarding compliance • Plan to monitor medication • Support and flexibility around exams • Joint working with EIS
outcome • Thought of harming others significantly reduced • Medication compliance was closely monitored • Regular contact with CRHT and EIS • Amy became less distressed by her beliefs • Discharged from CRHT back to EIS • planned to return home • Beliefs remained unchanged but less intrusive • Managed to continue attending for all exams
developments closer links with counselling service – could have made them aware of input (if consent given) No liaison with tutors Minimal contact with accommodation wardens
