Academic Affairs Priorities (2014) • Priority 1 - Continue Implementation of College!Now • New Statewide TACCK Grant ($1.4M + underway) • Priority 1 - Work out Organizational Structures for areas • reporting to Provost Library approved, IT approved, AIO • approved, COE approved, Extended Campus presented. • Others to follow by February 28th • Priority 1 - Complete Futureu Strategic Plan First Year Report Approximately 25 of the 118 actions have been addressed • Priority 1 - Implement Task Force ASC Transition Plan • ASC Transition Team made recommendations to Cabinet on • December 17th, Final decision to come very soon • Priority 1 - Roll out PD funds/CARE grants - $55K PD & $23K • e-Learning distributed, $38K CARE distributed, New PD • requests under review, CARE to be released soon • Priority 1 - Complete Program Prioritization and immediately begin implementation of the results - Under Dean’s review
Academic Affairs Priorities 2014 (continued) • Priority 1 - Work with Deans on College-related issues • 2014 permanent and OTO investments procedure underway, • Post -retirements process, New recruitment guidelines, • Assessment budgets development, Convocations • Priority 1 - Work with Academic Senate on issues raised • Course academic home report nearing completion - submitted • to AS in January; Chairs, Programs Directors & Coord. request • Priority 1 - Work with FA/VTEM on issues raised (MTYFA) • Inversion/compression raises were approved and both new • contracts have been ratified, MTYFA has new merit process • Priority 1 - Conduct important Academic Affairs searches • Priority 1 - Work with OCI and OIS to establish and institutionalize new Faculty Excellence Awards for Community Engagement, and International Outreach - Done • Priority 1 - Work with MSUB Foundation to raise significant portion of the funds for Yellowstone Hall - Just beginning
Academic Affairs Priorities 2014 (continued) • Priority 1 - Complete Academic Affairs Unit-level strategic plans and implementation a tracking system through Asana • Software is up and Dr. Redinger is beginning implementation • Priority 1 - Complete organizational structure, operation guidelines and policies for MSUB Extended Campus - Facility transition plan is underway and draft documents are being reviewed and revised. Detailed Policies to follow • Priority 2 - Work collaboratively with University Relations to formulate and launch marketing strategies for Extended Campus and e-Learning - Preliminary discussions underway • Priority 2 - Begin acquisition and implementation of a University Calendar Tool - Product reviews underway • Priority 2 - Look at possible implementation of e-Learning Proctoring Center and new TEAL Classroom - Initial discussions underway, need to begin dialog with SUC
New Academic Affairs SearchesDean College of Arts and Sciences Draft PD being reviewed. Place ad by end of January. Barbara Wheeling and Patricia VettelBecker are Search Chair and Co-Chair. Kick-off is 1/16/14Institutional Research - Advertised and Committee is in place. Trudy Collins will Chair the searchDirector of e-Learning - Advertised and Committee is in place. Matt Redinger and Brett Weiss will Co-Chair the searchDirector for Graduate Studies - Under review.Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs - Search to commence Spring 2014. Co-Chairs are VCAA & VCASChancellor - Dr. Cruzado will come to campus Friday
