  1. Diocesan Priests/Deacons By: Erica Kapolaek, CaiaLizyness, and Clarisse Hughes

  2. The founder of the priests William John Butler was the founder of the priests. He built up the church and was regarded as a man of prayer, a teacher and pastor with a great gift of friendship

  3. Lifestyle of the priests The lifestyle of the diocesan priests is simple. The priest is someone of faith and prayer who has accepted God’s call to leadership in the Church. The priest is destined to be a sacrament within the Church. That means that they make present and visible the leadership with Christ gives the Church. He does this by ordering and guiding the Church community and its ministries, proclaiming the Word of God and leading the community in worship, and sending the members of the community forth in mission.

  4. The priests’ commitment Diocesan priests give their lives to serving the people of a diocese, a church administrative region, and sometimes work in parishes, schools, or other Catholic institutions as choosenby the bishop of their diocese. Diocesan priests take oaths of celibacy and obedience. Diocesan priests celebrate their sacraments. Also, always set aside time for prayer.

  5. There order today The large majority of priests worldwide are diocesan priests. These men are ordained to work in a particular diocese or archdiocese. At the time of their ordination as deacons, they swear they’ll respect and show obedience to the diocesan bishop and his successors.

  6. The first deacons Were those who brought the bread of life to those who were socially isolated. There was said to be seven of them.

  7. Deacons Lifestyle and mission of order Diocesan priests attend to the spiritual, pastoral, moral, and educational needs of the members of their church. A priest’s day usually begins with morning meditation and mass and may end with an individual counseling session or an evening visit to a hospital or home.

  8. About deacons They can be both men and women. The church has had deacons Since New Testament days.  At first deacons remained deacons since this was a distinct office alongside bishops and priests.  Later, through much of church history, deacons were seen more as ‘apprentice priests’ and the main work of deacons was done by other people.

  9. Deacons The word deacon derives from the Greek diakonos meaning servant or minister.
