Passive solar features: Passive solar design integrates a combination of building features to reduce or even eliminate the need for mechanical cooling and heating and daytime artificial lighting. Designers and builders pay particular attention to the sun to minimize heating and cooling needs. Some passive solar features I used in my house were windows facing south. Over my windows I had an over hang facing the south roof and I used Clerestory windows. Active solar features: Then I used active solar features in my house. Active solar is the design of buildings that contain mechanical devices, which transport the absorbed solar energy to other locations in the building, or convert solar energy into electricity. So I used sky lights and solar panels in my house. Square footage of the floor: 514.5807 Feet ² Square footage of the south windows: 61.52 Feet ² Mike Ford
