Thames Water In Context • Biggest of the UK water utilities - provides water and sewage services to 12M customers in the UK Thames Valley. • Capital Investment programme of £5bn over 5 years delivering improvements to water and waste water process plants and networks. • Currently circa 500 live projects. Projects are typically civil projects often with a substantial MEICA element. • Delivery model is heaving outsourced. Contracts are Design and Construct based on a modified Burgundy book. • Majority of projects are let as a sub-programmes of projects to pre-tendered, geographically focussed Contractors.
Thames Water, Unit 4 and BC • TW implemented the ‘Business Collaborator’ system in 2005 - TWEXnet - as it’s document management platform for the delivery of it’s capital programme. • Currently circa 3000 users and 500 live Projects. • ‘Identical’ project set up all projects - implemented using a template. • Each document is tagged with metadata on loading - selected from pull down pick lists. • The TW Business Management System (BMS) for the delivery of it’s capital programme is ‘Capital Delivery Process’ (CDP). • CDP: • Fully integrated with the TW document management system. • Cross functional, cradle to grave, delivery process. • Comprises 6 Stages. Each Stage comprises a number of Steps.
