The hospital and surrounding area • 170,000 people – increases in summer due to tourism • Close links with Exeter, Plymouth and Bristol Hospitals • The hospital has approx 220 beds, with 93,000 outpatients per year. • Speciality/Departments - General Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Acute Admissions Units (Medical), Medical Specialities, Paediatrics.

  3. Caroline Thorpe Ward • 22 bedded ward – 6 and 8 bedded bays, 5 cubicles, 2 High Dependency cubicles • ITU beds are currently shared with the adults, but has close links with the PICU in Bristol and their retrieval team • Play room and school room, inc. general facilities

  4. Accident and Emergency • 4 bedded Resus, 7 beds majors, 6 beds minors • 98% patients are seen in the 4 hour deadline • Minor Injury Unit – Bideford, Ilfracombe, Lynton
