Possible Support for Title I Schools • Focused effort on improving student attendance • Close monitoring of student attendance • School site staff assigned to immediately address attendance issues with parents • District staff support to sites • Identify barriers and seek support/community resources for parents
Possible Support for Title I Schools Cont. • Extend Learning for K-3 students to improve/support reading proficiency • Voluntary chromebook take-home program • Bank of on-line programs for students: early reading intervention • Program for parents to learn English • Address internet access needs • Parent involvement/training • Utilize school break times for additional reading support • Oct./Dec./March/Summer • Certificated instructors • Community volunteers • Specific programs for intervention and extension based on student needs
Possible Support for Title I Schools Cont. • Increased counseling time • Vice Principal staffing • Half-time vice principal at sites that currently do not have a vice principal (smaller sites) • 1 full time vice principal at sites that currently have half-time vice principal.
Possible Long-Term Options • Additional Transitional Kindergarten Classes • Extend instructional time for Kindergarten • Marketing effort to parents on importance of preschool and TK to be “school ready”
