Outcomes Based Assessment There is a move within postgraduate medical education towards the assessment of educational outcomes. The outcomes of a training programme are to produce doctors who are able to demonstrate that they are competent across a range of activities. The concept of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) is gaining momentum across the globe as a means of determining whether trainees are ready for unsupervised practice.

Medical Microbiology and Virology • MM/MV will be Group 2 specialties • Recruit from basic IM year 2 plus MRCP • Most programmes dual CCT with ID • ID/GIM will be Group 1 specialty • Recruit from IM year 3 • Combined Infection Training • 2 year programme unchanged
