  1. By Alexis Kasper The Chocolate Chip Cookie Mistake

  2. INTRODUCTIONGeorge Washington never tasted one.Neither did Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, nor Mark Twain.Unfortunately they died before the chocolate chip cookie was invented. Thanks to Ruth Wakefield, chocolate chip cookies were invented in 1930 and are available all over today.

  3. CHOICE 1. Wakefield did not plan to invent a cookie that would become the country’s favorite. She was busy with chores of running the Toll House Inn, located on the toll road between Boston and New Bedford, Massachusetts. While mixing a batch of cookies, Wakefield discovered she was out of baker’s chocolate. As a substitute she broke some semi-sweetened chocolate into small pieces and added them into the dough. She expected the chocolate bits to melt and the dough to absorb them, producing chocolate cookies. When she removed the pan from the oven, Wakefield was surprised. The chocolate had not melted into the dough, and her cookie were not chocolate cookies. Wakefield had accidentally invented the chocolate chip cookies. They were named Toll House cookies after Ruth Wakefield’s and are the most popular variety in America today. Estimates say that seven billion chocolate cookies are consumed annually, and half the cookies baked in American homes are chocolate chip. These popular treats have even provided full-time jobs; some vendors sell nothing but chocolate chip cookies.

  4. CHOICE 2. One day in the late 19th century the king of England had requested chocolate cookies. Right away Ruth Wakefield got into the palace kitchen working. She put all the ingredients into the bowl. She included bits of chocolate from a chocolate candy bar because she did not have the chocolate that was supposed to be used. She put the dough into the oven. When they were finished she took them out of the oven and to her surprise the cookies did not turn out as chocolate cookies but rather as chocolate chip cookies. She brought them to the king and his royal family. The king loved them and they became a big hit. Ruth Wakefield became famous for her amazing chocolate chip cookies. She continued making them until her death on January 10th 1977. Presently, people all over the world know about chocolate chip cookies. They have been made internationally and people love them.
