What to Expect • Combine lecture, reading & discussion • Book: Investigating Deviance by Jacobs • Often begin with something open-ended • Current events, a question, a story, etc. • I encourage you to participate • Good way for me to learn who you are
Grading • 3 Exams, short answer – 60% • Graded by Silver • 5 Writing assignment, 3-4 pages – 40% • Graded by TAs, drop lowest grade • Extra credit assignments • TBA – as questions come up in class
Grading (cont’d) • Attendance – sign-in sheet, kept by TAs • Minus 1% point for each absence over 4 • Add ½% point for each of 4 classes not missed
