  2. History • Established in 1948 (OEEC) • Canada, U.S joined in 1960 • (OECD) Birth on September 30 1961 • Other countries started joining in, starting with Japan in 1964

  3. Who’s Involved? • 34 countries involved including; U.S, Canada, UK, Mexico etc.

  4. Objective • To promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the globe. • To make life harder for those who undermine a fair and open society i.e terrorists, tax dodgers, crooked businessman

  5. Benefits to Global Trade • Bring together trade policy makers • Discuses current trade policy issues • focuses on issues of importance only

  6. Limitations • Reports show only formal incidence on taxes for employers and employees • The final economic incidence could be quite different, due to the difference of gross wages between employer and employee.

  7. Interesting! • Hosted Nobel Prize Awards • Board member awarded Nobel prize for work and study in Microeconomics. • Turned 50 years old
